Professor John Danesh is a COG-UK Principal Investigator for the University of Cambridge. He is a Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine and Head of Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge, and also Director of the Cambridge site of Health Data Research UK and a Faculty Member of the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. Professor Danesh holds a British Heart Foundation Personal Chair and an NIHR Senior Investigator Award. In 2015, he was elected to the Fellowship of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences. He trained in medicine at the University of Otago in New Zealand and at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia, and, as a Rhodes scholar, trained in epidemiology at Oxford University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
