Professor Andrew Rambaut, FRSE, is a COG-UK Principal Investigator for the University of Edinburgh and a Professor of Molecular Evolution at the University of Edinburgh. After gaining his BSc in Zoology from the University of Edinburgh and then his PhD in Zoology from University of Oxford in 1997, Professor Andrew Rambaut remained at Oxford until 2006. He then took up the Royal Society University Research Fellowship position and became Chair of Molecular Evolution in 2010. His research is focused on evolutionary and epidemiological study of viral pathogens of humans and animals. He is interested in the evolution of emerging human viral pathogens including Ebola, Zika and Influenza viruses.
