Dr Emily Scher

Dr Emily Scher is a Postdoc at the University of Edinburgh Institute of Evolutionary Biology, currently working on building systems to help track the evolution of SARS-CoV-2. Following a BSc in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, and some time in industry as a software engineer, she completed a PhD in Computational Biology at the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests include virus evolution, phylogenetics, machine learning, synthetic biology, and, in general, finding clever ways to make complex biological data easier to understand.
