Dr Sharon Glaysher is a specialist Biomedical Scientist who manages Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust’s Research Laboratory. With a PhD in Molecular Biology and Cancer Sciences, her expertise lies in the molecular mechanisms of drug resistance in ovarian cancer. Sharon and her team are responsible for the set-up and delivery of a large portfolio of clinical research studies. During the pandemic she shifted her focus to lead and support on urgent public health research (e.g. SIREN, Recovery, CASCADE, FIND SARS Cov2, FALCON, ISARIC CCP) and is also the PI for the ‘Sequencing and Tracking Of Phylogeny in Covid-19’ study in partnership with University of Portsmouth colleagues. Together they have established a successful SARS-CoV-2 sequencing lab at the hospital as part of the COG-UK consortium.
