Dr Erik Volz is a Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London, in the Faculty of Medicine, School of Public Health where he studies infectious disease dynamics and evolution of pathogens. The aim of this work is to improve surveillance of infectious diseases using genetic data. Applications include outbreak detection, forensics, and forecasting epidemic trends. As part of the UK COVID-19 Genomics Consortium, Dr Volz contributes to analysis of genetic variants, outbreak detection, and modelling forĀ evaluation of public health interventions.
