Áine O’Toole

Áine is a final year PhD student in the Rambaut Group. She completed an MSc in Molecular Evolution at Trinity College Dublin and an MRes in Hosts, Pathogens and Global Health at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to the pandemic, her research focused on developing bioinformatics tools for viral outbreak surveillance. Since then, Áine has contributed to the maintenance of the Pango lineage system and development of tools such as pangolin, civet and grinch to help track SARS-CoV-2 lineages in the UK and around the world.
